General Information

Of course, as with any exercise, the benefits of Pilates will be most obvious if you make a commitment to regular sessions and to completing some self-practice outside of your tutored classes.

For both types of class, you will be required to complete a medical questionnaire. For an Apparatus, one to one or small group Matwork session, this is also done in conjunction with a postural assessment so that a programme can be tailored for you and the exercises be modified to suit your individual needs and ability. You will also need to keep me continually updated regarding medical conditions or changes in your general health which may impair your ability to exercise.

It is always advisable to check with your GP or health practitioner before taking up Pilates classes and to bring a note from them to explain any injuries or medical conditions in greater detail. The note should include a full description of any condition, with recommendations as well as any contraindications.

It is best to eat a light meal a couple of hours before class or wait until after your session. And it's always a good idea to bring water with you to a Matwork class to sip throughout the class.

Special clothing isn't required. Just bring a pair of loose, comfortable trousers and a top, socks are optional.
